India - the world's second producer of tea. The bulk of the produced tea - black, produced from the Assam tea plant species. Indian tea is characterized by a strong, distinct flavor compared with Chinese black teas.
 
Most Indian teas produced cutting (broken) or granular (CTC). To achieve stability, taste widely used indicators of tea blending - shopping variety is a mixture of 10-20 different teas grade.
 
Elite grade of Indian tea - Darjeeling - produced from varieties of Chinese tea plants growing in the highlands plantations in the foothills of the Himalayas; on methods of cultivation, assembly and preparation it is closer to the Chinese teas.
