Marking of tea in the world
Marking of tea in the world
ps (pekoe souchong)
Designation of black leaf tea, produced from the coarse and large leaves of the tea bush. Liter PS labeled medium-quality tea, which is better than the S, but worse than P. Chinese tea labeled as PS, a higher quality than similar Indian or Ceylon.
s (souchong)
Designation of black leaf tea, produced from old, rough and large leaves of the tea bush. The quality of tea depends strongly on the quality of the bush. In the case of Indian and Ceylon teas, S - is a leaf tea of poor quality (worse than PS). In China, the small tea bushes, even from old leaves, formally covered by the S standard, can be obtained by acceptable quality tea.
p (pekoe)
The designation of black leaf tea manufactured from the leaf tea bush side shoots or leaves of the third and fourth main escape. Etymologically, the term goes back to the Chinese «pak-ho» (white fluff) - formerly designated as particularly high-quality tea from unblown bud and two leaves, the next behind it. At present, the letter P is marked with medium-quality tea, which is better than the S, but worse than the OP.
op (orange pekoe)
Designation of black leaf tea produced from following the kidney leaf tea tree to escape, but with little or no artificial nails. The size of tea leaves in a tea - 8-15 mm. Liter OP marked enough quality tea (usually - Ceylon), which is better than P, only worse than FP. Sometimes used labeling OP1 and OPA. The exact secret meaning of letters and numbers to find out is not possible, there is a suspicion that they mean leaf size, smaller than the standard OP.
fp (flowery pekoe)
Designation of black leaf tea, produced from high-quality, but not tightly twisted leaves with a low content of TIPS (indicated by letter F). Liter FP marked enough quality tea, which is better than the OP, but worse than the FOP.
fop (flowery orange pekoe)
Designation of black leaf tea produced from following the leaf bud tea tree and escape with sufficient TIPS (as indicated by the letter F). Liter FOP marked quality tea, which is better than the FP, but worse than GFOP.
gfop (golden flowery orange pekoe)
Designation black leaf tea produced in the kidney following the tea tree leaves and the shoot from tipsov content that is greater than the tea FOP. Letter G (Golden) indicates that the tips (which are golden-brown color) are clearly visible in the tea and give it a golden color (this is an exaggeration, of course). Liter GFOP marked high quality tea (most often - Indian), which is better than the FOP, but worse than TGFOP.
tgfop (tippy golden flowery orange pekoe)
Designation of black leaf tea produced from following the leaf bud tea tree and escape with the content of artificial nails, even more than in the tea GFOP (letter T - Tippy). Liter TGFOP marked high quality tea (most often - Indian), which is better than GFOP, but worse than FTGFOP.
ftgfop (fine tippy golden flowery orange pekoe)
Designation of black leaf tea (usually - Indian) of the highest quality and with a very high content of artificial nails. This category of tea is formally the highest, although, of course, the quality of tea does not know the upper limit. In the case where the tea quality is superior to standard FTGFOP to this letter or add numbers (FTGFOP1), or letters (SFTGFOP - Super FTGFOP).
sftgfop (super fine tippy golden flowery orange pekoe one)
It is not the formal designation of black leaf tea (usually - Indian), even higher quality than FTGFOP. It can be combined with numbers denoting the size of the tea leaf. SFTGFOP1, SFTGFOP2, SFTGFOP3 - the bigger the list, the higher the number, SFTGFOP2 SFTGFOP3 marking and are extremely rare.
